Tax help on form 16 for govt. person

Hello,

I am asking a quetion about my father who retired in JANUARY-2013,and he is become 60 years old same year but dept. issue form 16 according to normal tax limit (2,00,000) not in senior citizen club.
 
now he is confused about how to fill return. should he file return according to senior citizen slab? 
 
please guide on this issue.

and since he will turn 60 before the end of March 2012, I think he will enter the category of senior citizen and avail higher tax exemption.

Sir,

If any person attains age of 60 years in the previous year he is a senior citizen as per IT. So he can file his return as a senior citizen and get the credit of excess TDS by the employee.

He can file IT return in Senior Citizen slab.
