Hi freinds ,all u know about I.A.S/I.F.S/.I.A.A.S exams conducted by upsc.I think ca can prepare for this exam.IN MAIN exam of civil service we can chose accountancy & commerce , and economics as optional paper, and we dont need any extra preparation for these papers.U all know about the toughness of both the ca and i.a.s exams. So freinds what is your opinion?

hi, in this case ur aim should be fixed. in the case of civil services general knowledge of other things also matter & in case of ca depth study of subject is necessary. so be concentrate on only one thing

HI friends, and hi Varun what kind of information u require for I.A.S?I.A.S required two kinds of preparation ,one is subjective and another is for general study. For subjective study in commerce(hope u opt for commerce in main & prelim)nothing more than ca pe2 & final is required.I.A.S commerce question is less tough than CA final. And for general study there is no specific syllabus, u have to study math, english, politics, indian history, world geography, essay writing, indian constitution, laws, current affairs e.t.c.Now tell me what is your quary?

I think ICWAs are more suitable than CA in IAS exam. because, most of ICWAs from engineering background. they have strong knowledge in Maths/ general studies etc. Accountany in Cake subject like them.
however, in IAS exam more intelligent question come from Costing paper than financial Accounts paper.
so, Engineer with ICWA background has more chance to success than CA.

u r wrong. ask any IIM or other premier b school students they will tell you that a/c is the most difficult subject in their curriculum. to do a/c just quantitative skills are not suffice. if a/c demands quant skill CALC is with you. you need some thing more than quant skill. probably you do not kno anything about a/c. infact in UPSC exam a/c and costing appears in same paper not in different papers as you mentioned. it shows that you dnt know anything about UPSC exams also. if you do not know just shut up.

i know Accounts and Costing paper in UPSC are same. but Costing paper question more complex than A/c Paper. Accounts paper in all time stero type question come.
Where u find information that A/C is tough for IIM students? Do not make statement on your imagination. A/C is cake subjects for an engineering students. Costing is more intelligent than A/C.

thers is no need for me to argue with you. i am posting just for people who dnt have much knowledge about them not for people who feels that they kno everything and others kno nothing.
1.there is no concept that one subject is more intelligent than others. probably the word "intelligent" is used for persons not to subjects according to my little knowledge.
2.to qualify as CA one need to pass costing in PE2 nd FINAL also. compare final cost mgmt paper and IAS costing questions. in 2005 mains UPSC paper EOQ question was asked for 30 MARKS. it is childs play for PE2 students. and for QUALIFIED CAs.....(no need to tell , i think) these questions are "intelligent questions" for u (infact i failed to find the meaning for "intelligent question" kindly help me)
3. you mentioned that engineers have strong knowledge in general studies!!!! which is very interesting. general studies doesnt mean engineering. it comprises polity, history, economy, sci and tech and geography.... i confirmed with my engineering friend (student of BITS) that no university in INDIA teaches polity, history and geography for engg students and sci and tech syllabus also different (followed your suggestion "no imagination").
4.a/c is tough for mba studs according to my frnds in MDI, GITAM, OU, IITK AND IIMB. i am not mba studnt so i cant tell you that its 100% correct. and definetly varies from person to person. not imagination.
5. one thing is correct engg with icwa has more chance than ca because they have knowledge on two different subjects unlike cas.
