An assessee is practicing as a doctor. During the F.Y. 2015-16, his gross reciepts were Rs. 8 lakhs. Whether he was liable to maintain books of account for the F.Y. 2015-16?
what will be your answer, if the following information is available-
His receipts for F.Y. 2014-15 were Rs. 5 lakhs
His receipts for F.Y. 2013-14 were Rs. 7.5 lakhs
His receipts for F.Y. 2012-13 were Rs. 1.5 lakhs

Section 44AA. (1) Every person carrying on legal, medical, engineering or architec- tural profession or the profession of accountancy or technical consultancy or interior decoration or any other profession as is notified66 by the Board in the Official Gazette shall keep and maintain such books of account and other documents as may enable the 67[Assessing] Officer to compute his total income in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
