Unrelated entries in AIS and Form 26as

465 views 5 replies

I find an unrelated entry in my AIS

It shows

Centralised Processing and Reconciliation Centre Chennai  with TAN CHEC18029E has paid some interest on three occasions and TDS too was deducted. TDS is also getting reflected in 26as

It appears it is a central/state Govt organisation

The address simply says Circle Office Premises Anna Road Chennai

None of my bank accounts got credited nor any coomunication received from them.

With such incomplete addrees how do I contact them

Can I use the options  in AIS to say that this does not relate to me

How to go about TDS Mismatch

Can someone guide me how to go about it

Quick Summary
An unrelated AIS and Form 26AS entry with TDS should be reported using AIS feedback as "Information does not relate to me." Contact the deductor for TDS correction if possible, and file your ITR with only genuine income and eligible TDS credits while keeping records.

  • Submit AIS Feedback: Mark the transaction as "Information does not relate to me" directly on the e-filing portal to neutralize the entry.

  • Identify Deductor: Use the public Know Your TAN tool with TAN CHEC18029E to extract their official corporate email and phone number.

  • Request Correction: Send an email request to the deductor to revise their TDS return.

  • File ITR Accurately: Only report actual earned income and legitimate tax credits; leave the erroneous entry completely out of the financial computations.

Thank you. The portal does not provide the email ID or the phone number. Even the address is incomplete. Anna Road in Chennau is a busy and pretty long road.

As suggested by I'll give the feedback back in AIS

Ignore the part relating to TDS hoping by the time I complete my return the concerned person to whom it really matters will take up the matter with them and the same gets settled.

Thank you once again

If the entries are not yours, check the entries with your bank statements, Form 16, books of accounts and other supporting documents. AIS is an information statement and could contain incorrect or wrongly tagged transactions at times. The Income Tax Department enables taxpayers to provide comments on AIS by providing options like "Information is incorrect" or "Information relates to another person.

The reporting entity (bank, employer, broker, etc.) is required to correct the data in the Form 26AS, and the taxpayer is not allowed to make any changes to the data in the Form 26AS.

Have to file ITR on the correct facts and documentary evidence available and maintain records in support of the claim. Submit AIS feedback and follow up with the reporting entity, as needed.

Dear Sir,

Please check & confirm if you have investments in Post office NSC, MIS, Time Deposits, SCSS, etc?  If Yes, the interest whether paid or Accrued if any for the year will be shown by CPRC, chennai (with Respective Account Numbers) in your AIS and you have to include them in Income for other sources while filing ITR.

Thank you very much for the timely advise
