Is stamp duty for purchase of land via gpa more ?

Hi ,

I would like to register a block of land in mysore under me and my husbands name. The General power of Attorney is my mother in law.

  My mother in law's lawyer suggested that the block be registered in my husbands name as he is blood related to MIL and the stamp duty is less in that case. Later I could just add my name which will not cost us anything.

If It is going to be registered in mine and my husbands name, the stamp duty will be more as my mother in law is not blood related to me and she is the GPA for me too?

The property buy price is 18 lakhs but the govt value is 9,60,000rs.

Any help would be great.
