Not the redemption amount as a whole; but any accrued gain over the capital is taxable.

If Rs 100/- invested initially........ after certain period, when redemption amount received is 110/-. ..... tax liability arises over Rs.10/- (for bLTCG, after indexation) and not over total Rs. 110/-
