Is 5 Months Enough to Pass?

Final 5211 views 45 replies

    Hello CA-club-INDIA members :),

I have been a regular visitor of this site. Havent contributed much .

I have a question here for FINAL (Old- New) students and the ones who have already passed thier CA exams.

I am starting my studies for CA Final (Old) November 2010 from 1st June :(.

I want to give both the groups. Have done one reading of Audit (80%) Law (35%).

How should be my approach and how much time do i dedicate to each subject ?? Including Audit and Law as i want to start everything from the scratch. How many revisions are necessary to clear the exams in first attempt. How many months do you require to finish all the subjects.

Will be getting study leave of 5 mnths for sure:).

Can i think of scoring at this juncture???

Can i revise 2 times in this time span (excluding the revision on the exam days)

Can i make my own notes so that it helps me while revising ???

I think this forum created by me will be helpful for students appearing Nov-2010 exams  for the first time.

Hope this thread stays for a longer period. Hope i am not breaking any rules & regulations of this forum community.

Please help me fellow students.

Regards

NM-13

Ohhh.. common.

Its been 2 hours and no replies yet. Surprised to see 90 views without a single reply:/.

Hope people here care to reply. Especially the ones appearing for Final CA :).

Thanks in advance.

5 months are more than enough.

LOGIC: you wont remember a single thing of the first 3 months, at the time of exam.

So only two months are productive.

However logics developed throughout the years will be ever with you till your death.

@ Anuj.

thanks for the reply.

Your views about the time required for preparing are quite contradictary.

On one hand  you say that 5 months are more than enough & on the other hand you say that one can not remember what he/she studied 3 months back. That means 5 months is not enough.

What i want to know is if one can do quality studies and revisions in 5 mnths. I also asked if one can expect to score with that effort.

Mind you, my practical knowledge and exposure is not that good as it should be.

Especially when it comes to subjects like accounts, costing and MAFA.

Hi man,

This is Kartik from Chennai, I finished my PCC only last november and giving my final this attempt. The standard of papers are more than the last three attempts. I studied for just six months from scratch. No classes to go for.

Its pretty difficult to clear if you do not have any idea regarding the subject. As anuj said, I finished the whole book of mafa in January and didn't find time to get back to mafa as i had to finish other subjects. if i had come back to the Mafa, I would have lost out on other subjects.

The standard of the papers are so high and it requires a reading of minimum 2 times in case of 2nd group is concerned. In case of 1st group, it easier to clear with slighter preparations.

If you are gonna start today. see to that you finish second group by some part of june and just revise till you finish costing. Frankly speaking I finished one by one and by the time it was end of 3 months mist of thje subjects were looking new.

I can suggest you study 2 hours for ISCA, DT, IDT every day and Costing for 4 hours. Do not sacrifice on other activities. Do play , go for movies, chill out with frens and win the race. I didn't do any of those and planning to do for the next attempt.

Do not have any study targets, Have knowledge targets. (ie) you should reach to a state in a topic wherein any time during your life you should be able to answer any question from it. I compromised on quality and did a quantitative work covering all. Start from the most improtant topics and then go down. Make yourself king of things and you shall definitely win the race in 5 months.

1 month sufficient for 1st group as completion is very easy.

all the best.

any doubts do ask me. This is out of my personal experience. Hope you find it feasible. If u are working make the target to july or agugust  15th

Thanks Karthik :),

So by July end or August 15th at max. hmm......:(

3 months for the first read left. Almost 7 subjects to cover.  I require a minimum of 15 days to complete one subject 95%. (5% is the part which one cannot complete or cover the entire module)

Still i am short of 15 days for first read. & that too if no breaks or unforseen contingencies arise during these three months. fingers crossed.

Disclaimer: though the thread topic suggest about passing requirement, my concern is to score decent if not good.

REALISTICALLY: Is that possible;(.

Hi man,

I havent taken any classes for CA final, many encouraged me that it was possible. I did study and i couldn't do it. I was pretty serious too. The mode of studies and planning were at fault. My sincere suggestion is to study 3 theory papers daily with x hours each and 1 practical paper(acc, sfm, cost) 2X hours man. Please do study all the subjects all the time. Some time it might get difficult for you to get the momentum or comfort. dont mind losing a week in getting set with this habit. the investment is worth it.

Dont study for passing. study for getting a guarenteed 60 in every subject. with difficulty level looming, you will end up getting 50 in all.

Anything you want mail me, I have made out all posible ways to study the best and clear in november. The standard of paper is too gud this time and its not like last 3 times. Please be prepared for the worst paper this november and prepare.

Dont leave anything for choice as things are getting worsened as they are not testing all topics equally. there have been exams this time where most important topics weren't tested and unimportant and most probable choice chapters were given more weightage.

Eg: Security analysis and bond valuation formed 48 and 46 marks in the last three attempts out of 320. this paper they were not tested except in bond a different kind ofa sum.

all the best.

Its possible provided its a well directed effort and not like mine in the last attempt

dude u got 5 months......omg u can get a rank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

passin z too small thing

Sadhvi it was so nice an encouragement from ur side man. I faced such encouragement when i started 5 months back. It isn't easy for people like me who just knew amalgamation was part of accounts and companies act was part of law kind of a people.

I had never show interest towards my studies. i did show interest and the volume was too much to take. I completed all subjects but for writing this may paper u needed minimum of 2 time reading and that wasn't possible for me. My plans were bad as i completed subject by subject which made me forget all the initial subjects.

Anuj, please take my account seriously. its possible to pass, need to be smart. Encouragements are great and they really push you towards your goal. some time encouragement defies reality.

I still say, going half way is better than standing at the start. u just need a few more steps to reach. So dont think about exam. have ur set of revision rules covering all subjects in a block of 3 days and win your exams. if at all u get a rank under this preparation. Its ur effort.. never study for rank, let it be incidental.

all the best

karthik u r right one shudnt study for rank for dat matter one shud just study wid great zeal n dosnt even think abt results as its said in BHAGWAD GEETA ..........

we can just act wid full love and hard work......n things will be in our stride automatically.........so just give in ur best n results will be postive

Quality of time is important... Not quantity...  So use ur available time efficiently.. Sure U will clear with good marks...

Thankz for all your comments.

Just wanted to know what do you exactly mean by quality ?

Remember quality and quantity both should be considered. Just 2 hours of quality or 16 hours of quantity wont fetch you good marks. It must be commensurate with the portion. With the vast portion do you really think that quality is the only solution.

No replies for a long period now.

Please help.

Don't bother just start it.

You take tensions, u will end up messing up the exam.

Sven one month is suuffcient. Just start it.

Start studying daily two hours from today itself.

Till exam you should have studied legal subjects at least 5 times. Only reading enough.

Other subjects mein logics develop karo.

You wont be able to remember them fully.

So you have to write logical.

Practical papers are easy.

If you know the concept of time value of money and derivatives then Mafa finished.

if u can really and logically understand he concepts of a/c of bcomH Du syllabus, u r through accounts. Only as 30 etc are bit typical.

Dont panic as confidence is necessary.

yes its enough ,,,,,provided u ve applied ur 100% sonsentration .
