Is that mandatory to file GST return after cancllation till the approval of cancellation of GST.

Yes need to file the returns .
As per Amendment Act 2018 Provides for "Suspension" Of registration, means taxpayer Need not file return once application is filed for cancellations But the provision of Act is have not yet been brought into force .
Hence better to file return till got approval

Better to File nil return for safer side.

File all the returns 3B and GSTR 1 until the approval of cancellation of registration.
