Advance Tax and Non deduction TDS from Salary

Tax queries 1402 views 4 replies

I have received a mail from my client which I have given below

I am an employee working in a Govt. Department. I am receiving my salaries through Govt. Treasury. But the Treasury Officer has not deducted TDS from my salary. Now my tax liability become more than my salary of last month (March 2010) .The Treasury officer advised me to remit a sum of Rs.10,000/- as income tax and he agrees to deduct balance tax from my last month (March) salary.

My doubt is that under what head I have to deposit the tax amount? Advance Tax (100)  or Self Assessment Tax (300)?  If I pay the amount as Advance Tax (100), will it attract interest as per sec. 234B and 234C?

Dear friends kindly guide me to give an answer to his query?

you just fill the challan for advance tax there by reducing ur tax liability.........as a result his employer shall take the credited of  advance tax paid by employee & deduct the TDS accordingly of salary.....

Jishnu Sir,

Tell your client to pay advance tax by 15th march....

234B can be avoided for delay in paying advance tax, but not 234C for deferment of Advance tax.

As Mr. Shushantsinghal said yu must pay Rs. 10,000/- as advance tax.. employer shall deduct the balance tax accordingly

Hi Friends,

I advised my client to pay Adance Tax for Rs.10,000/- before March 2010.

Thanks for your valuable suggessions

Jishnu
