Quick Summary
A taxpayer was unable to access Form 26AS due to a locked TRACES account and unsuccessful password reset attempts. Suggested solutions included clearing browser data, using a compatible browser, and accessing TRACES directly. Delays in support responses and ITR form availability were also discussed.

@ S U M Rao

Sorry to hear about your ordeal.

CPC must be extremely busy now, trying to make ITR-2 and ITR-3 available before Happy New Year 2026. Many are desperately waiting for those two forms.

Try the below link and you may succeed in getting your 26AS.

https://tdscpc.gov.in/app/login.xhtml#

Must use MS Windows 7 as a minimum. With Firefox or any other suitable browser.

Thank you sir.You have also cleared my query on avaialability of ITR 2 and ITR 3 ,still pending.

@ S U M Rao

You are welcome.

Hope you could download the 26AS.

TRACES gets very slow or shows errors during peak ITR season (June to July). A few things to try:

For Form 26AS specifically, you do not actually need to go through TRACES at all. The faster route:
1. Log in directly at incometax.gov.in with your PAN and password
2. Go to e-File > Income Tax Returns > View Form 26AS
3. You will be redirected to TRACES but from inside the IT portal ,  this path works even when the direct TRACES login fails

Alternatively, access it through your net banking:
- Most major Indian banks (SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis etc.) have a link to Form 26AS under the tax section of their net banking portal
- The link goes through TRACES but authenticates via your bank credentials, bypassing the TRACES registration issue

If you need 26AS for TDS credit comparison before filing ITR, also download the AIS from the income tax portal (Services > AIS). AIS shows more details than 26AS and does not require a separate TRACES login.

If your TRACES account continues to display the message "Account Locked, please try again in 1 Hour" after waiting a few hours or days it is likely that the error is occurring on the TRACES site rather than the browser. However you can try the following:

1. Clear your browser's cache and cookies , log in to TRACES using an alternate browser (Chrome, Edge or Firefox) or log into TRACES using incognito/private browsing mode. Many people fixed their TRACES access issue by utilizing this method.

2. Access your Form 26AS through the e-filing portal (Income Tax e-filing portal):
- log into the Income Tax e-filing portal
- Navigate to the page where Form 26AS is displayed (E-File your income tax returns and view Form 26AS).
Accessing your Form 26AS will take you to the TRACES site and will sometimes allow you to access TRACES without a direct login issue.

3. If your TRACES account is still locked, click the "Forgot Password" link, wait until the lockout period has expired, then try again to log in to TRACES. The account is locked during the period of time in which you have attempted to login unsuccessfully.

4. If after clicking the "Forgot password" link and waiting for the lockout period your account is still locked please contact TRACES Helpdesk and take a screenshot of the issue.

In the meantime you can check your tax information through the Annual Information Statement (AIS) or Tax Information Statement (TIS) located in the Income Tax e-filing site as much of the TDS will also be displayed here.
