If your TRACES account continues to display the message "Account Locked, please try again in 1 Hour" after waiting a few hours or days it is likely that the error is occurring on the TRACES site rather than the browser. However you can try the following:
1. Clear your browser's cache and cookies , log in to TRACES using an alternate browser (Chrome, Edge or Firefox) or log into TRACES using incognito/private browsing mode. Many people fixed their TRACES access issue by utilizing this method.
2. Access your Form 26AS through the e-filing portal (Income Tax e-filing portal):
- log into the Income Tax e-filing portal
- Navigate to the page where Form 26AS is displayed (E-File your income tax returns and view Form 26AS).
Accessing your Form 26AS will take you to the TRACES site and will sometimes allow you to access TRACES without a direct login issue.
3. If your TRACES account is still locked, click the "Forgot Password" link, wait until the lockout period has expired, then try again to log in to TRACES. The account is locked during the period of time in which you have attempted to login unsuccessfully.
4. If after clicking the "Forgot password" link and waiting for the lockout period your account is still locked please contact TRACES Helpdesk and take a screenshot of the issue.
In the meantime you can check your tax information through the Annual Information Statement (AIS) or Tax Information Statement (TIS) located in the Income Tax e-filing site as much of the TDS will also be displayed here.
