What is the procedure for VAT CST registration in Maharashtra?

Mr Author,
Now, most of the States have introduced on-line registration.Open up the web site of commercial tax/vat department of Maharashtra for registration. Form VAT A will come on screen(may be some other format also)calling for deatails. Fill up the details and attach the required documents for proof.It gives a unique number. Note that number and approach the concerned VAT office along with copies of the form filled by on-line and documents. In such office they check the entry in their computer and collect the registration fee(within a week).After collecting the fees the VAT officer deputes an official to verify the facts recorded in the application.After verification and reporting by the said official the officer decides the security deposit to be paid along with profession tax,if any.When all this is done the RC is to be issued immediately.
