1.What is TDS ?
2.how many times are TDS returns filed? In both case company and individual?
3.how many times are TDS challan paid? In both case company and individual & HUF?

1. TDS is Tax deducted at source. In some circumstances payer is required to deduct TDS on payment made to payee at the specified rate. Then the payer deposit this tax in Government account. Payee gets the credit of tax in their tax return.

2. 4 Times i.e. on quaterly basis.

4. TDS return is electronic return. Form no. 24,26 & 27 used.

TDS challan no. ITNS 281 and after 1st july 2009 form 17 will be used and payment need to be made only online.
