e-Filing has been made compulsory for the person who is an Individual or a Hindu Undivided Family, if his or its total income, or the total income in respect of which he is or it is assessable under the Act during the previous year, exceeds ten lakh rupees for AY 2012-13 onwards. Click here to download notification no. S.O. 626 (E). dtd 28th March 2012 in this regard.
My querry is as under for above notification :-
1.) whether this is applicable for the persons having income by way of salary or rent or FDR interest ?
2.) Whether Digital signature is also mandatory for above perons or only efiling is mandatory?

1. The above notification is mandatory irrespective of the nature of the income. An individual or HUF whose total income exceeds Rs. 10 lakhs has to file the return electronically, irrespective of the source of income.
2. Digital signature is mandatory only if the individual or HUF is required to get his/its books of accounts audited.
