Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the contribution limits for NPS Tier 1 accounts. While there's no upper limit on how much you can invest in Tier 1, the tax deduction is capped at Rs 2 lakh annually. This includes Rs 1.5 lakh under Section 80C and an additional Rs 50,000 specifically for NPS Tier 1 under Section 80CCD(1B). Tier 2 accounts offer easier withdrawal but no tax benefits.
