Filing of itr when guy was in abroad.?????

17 January 2013 One of my friend permanently living in Delhi, But Since last three years he was in UK for completing his MBA.

During his study there he had worked and earned some money there and now he is back in India and wanted to file the last three years Income Tax Return.

Therefore i would request you to please tell me that, can he file the ITR or not. And if yes, then do he need to deposit penalty against the late filing of returns.??????????

17 January 2013 Yes, he can file the ITR. The return for the financial year 2010-11 to be filed before 31/03/2013.

But if he need to File return For the F.Y 2009-2011, then do he need to deposit penalty of the same..

17 January 2013 F.Y.2009-10 the time limit is now over. You can not file the ITR for the same.
02. The penalty for late filing is not "automatic". You file the return...if assessing officer thinks fit, penalty may not be even levied.
