Taxpayers are being urged to stay vigilant and not fall for phishing attempts that mimic official government communication. These emails often trick users into disclosing personal details, bank credentials, or login information, which can then be misused for identity theft or financial fraud.
The Income Tax Department has reiterated that any official correspondence is generally conducted via its e-filing portal or through registered communication channels.
In case of receiving such suspicious emails, citizens are advised to report phishing attempts immediately at the official reporting page: https://incometaxindia.gov.in/pages/report-phishing.aspx
With cyber frauds on the rise, especially during income tax filing season, both salaried and self-employed individuals must exercise caution and verify all emails and links before taking action.
