e-RUPI is basically a digital voucher which a beneficiary gets on his phone in the form of an SMS or QR code. It is a pre-paid voucher, which he/she can go and redeem it at any centre that accepts it.

The Ministry of MSME does not establish micro, small and medium enterprises in the country. The promotion and development of enterprises is a State subject. However, the Central Government supplements the efforts of the State/UT Governments.

On 1st July 2020, after the adoption of a new definition of MSMEs, a new registration portal ‘Udyam Registration’ has been launched by M/o MSME and so far 41,37,443 classified MSMEs are registered on the portal.

RBI cautions the public not to fall prey to fictitious offers of buying/ selling of Old Bank notes and Coins

Certain elements are fraudulently using the name/logo of RBI, and seeking charges/commission/tax from the public, in transactions related to buying and selling of old banknotes and coins. It is clarified that RBI does not deal in such matters.

More than 6.80 crore loans of Rs. 5.20 lakh crore extended to New Entrepreneurs/Accounts under PMMY

Entrepreneurs availed over 29.55 crore loans of Rs. 15.52 lakh crore under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana since 2015. For the current financial year, a target of sanction of Rs. 3.00 lakh crore has been fixed for MLIs.

Shri Deepak Das takes charge as new Controller General of Accounts (CGA)
