FAQ :
A total of 1,42,73,910 new Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts were opened during this period.
Uttar Pradesh led with 29,12,632 accounts, followed by Tamil Nadu with 26,03,872, and Maharashtra with 23,13,584 accounts.
Lakshadweep had the lowest with 331 accounts, followed by Andaman and Nicobar Islands with 5,305, and Ladakh with 6,209 accounts.
The varying numbers are attributed to factors like population size and the ability and willingness of parents to save.
As of October 2021, public banks accounted for 96.24% of SSA accounts, while private banks held 3.76%. Accounts opened in post offices were not included in this calculation.
