Very Difficult to Practice says newly CAs.

Ask any newly qualified CA he will tell u he is planning to join some company or big 4 but don't intent to do practice privately..the reason is simple.the company will give atleast rs 25000 to fresher CA but in practice it is very diffuclt to set up..even rank 1 Mandar dixt also tried his hands on practice-mandardixit & company but closed it to join Sharp n tannan n later joied tata motors..mandar believe getting new client is very difficult..if u join some firm as a partner  they'll  give u salary n not share in profit..u have to compete big 4 on one hand n old players on another..

Atleast companies give prefernce to rank holders but nothing of this sort in practice..even after setting of practice for so many years there is no guarantee that u can grow as ur salary grows in corporate..it is only logical if ur father is qualified ca n practicing..then u can get client from day 1 n no exploitation....there is need of the hour this issue must be addressed by ICAI urgently because now more than 90% join to industry n remaining too  not finding good scope in pratice..the cream companies have aquired by big 4..i also think the attitue of small n medium sized firms also need to be changed..else they will neither grow at client front not nor on quality man power in office...

The issue raised in the present forum is very common. Most of the students wish to join into corporate organisations. According to them; it is easiest way to set up themselves in all respect. The reasons are as under :

1. Corporates have their own establishment. Hence CA has to do his work. Small work which is not so important are handled by junior staffs hence their abilities flourish day-by-day.

2. CAs have variety of knowledge and they can grasp any new policy of the management without any agitation.

3. CAs can work for more than 12 hours also because of their tough training and difficult exam patterns.

4. CAs expect less than MBAs because of low cost they born during their CA training.

5. CAs are generally trustworthy persons for their employer. In training they know how a client defaults and they manage it to escape him from typical law provisions.

It is true that it is very difficult to have new clients immediately after starting a practice. The reasons are as under :

1. This situation arise because students are so busy during their studies that they don't refer ads in newspapers about various vacancies in remote areas for professional employment.

2. They don't form a big firm of CAs despite having number of friends list who are CAs.

3. They lack in communication skills and liaisoning.

4. They don't focus attention on various activities of their bosses how they deal with the clients and where they visits regularly.

5.  They lacks passion to do practice.

Money is not the matter at all for living. Many students and new CAs will not agree with me but later on they will agree.

Here are some points to be considered before joining job :

1. Companies also take your 12 hours time per day.

2. Initially work would be too difficult to understand and every time you will feel threat of underperformance.

3. You can't enjoy your own daily life.  Because most of the time you have to leave your home at 8.00 am and you would likely to come back at 9.00 pm.

4. Many time CAs work is not defined and employers take it granted that after employing CAs nothing to worry about. But this happen only on medium sized companies.

I say :

A CA is an INSTITUTION in himself. He need not DO either his own PRACTICE  or to be in EMPLOYMENT.

Meet so many persons/organisations in a day with your visiting cards and prove your abilities by advising them in their typical circumstances.

Within 3 years one would be able to well settled with total independence of self.

( I am sure hardly there would be one who will agree with me ).

Every thing has its own benefit* and of course the * refers to conditions apply. Organisations pay money but the treatment one gets there differs with the nature of the organisation.

  • In a Big4 which has lot many CAs, you will hardly get the respect as there are better aquainted people. If you have a drive for knowledge and money, have importance attached to career and growth, then Big4 is the place for you.....
  • If you are into family and need a better place to work wherein you can balance your professional and personal life, then its better to join a place which is not so aggressive. It might pay less, but then thats the cost which one needs to pay for the much needed Balance in one's own life....
  • When it comes to Practice, one needs to have a very good strong network to procure work. Marketing skills are a must. Good knowledge about IT department and habit of visiting the department is a needed attribute. One should have the drive to run own business, come what may. Though the money you make is less initially, one can mint it in the due course.

Finally the more the risk the more the money.... the more the comfort, the more cost you pay, in terms of lesser money in the kitty........

Choice is yours..........

Thanks a lot to all.. I think many like me are wondering on the same grounds but nothing actually crystalises at the end of the day.. the basic question that must be running in many fresh CAs must be how to get the clients because we actually don't really have any product that we can show to everyone and get clients..

Secondly, whom to target and which service should be offered.. Without a proper channel ad network, this question will probavly remain unanswered..

So, the only way a fresh CA identifies is to go for a lucrative job, which can give you big Brand name, big Clients, higher Revenues..

But, key to success for practice is a lot of patience and a lot of hard work, much more hard work and patience than a lucrative job (correct me if I am wrong)..

Your further guidance would help many confused CAs and CA aspirants like me..

Thanks a lot..

Ya  i do agree practice is a hard nut to crack..

bt i do also think nuthng lke own work yaarr..

moreover in case u hav a backbone eg dad ca or father in law is a ca:P

then things do get easy
