Tax queries 421 views 1 replies

An NRI earns income in india in the year 2012-13. If he sends money in india to his parents in his indian account, than whether this income is taxable in india or not? And if taxable, than under which has it is taxable?

Dear Chirag

When the assessee is not resident in India then his income earned outside India will be taxable in the country in which he is residening.

But the income earned in India will be taxable in India as per the source head. (Say Interest on FD shall be taxable in India.)

The income sent from abroad to thier parent will be non taxable, as the assessee in NR.

I hope the answer is clear to you.

Regards
