What is the maximum amount that an individual can deduct as Professional Tax or Tax on Employment u/s 16(iii) under the head Income from Salary?

As per form 16..... that is what is actually deducted/paid to Government...
The maximum amount a state govt can impose is 2500. Is that is the max Amount one can deduct?
