There is no service tax leviable on carpenters under normal circumstances. But if he the carpernter undertakes any maintenance and repair service under contract agreement , the his services may attract service tax under " Management maintenance and reparing service".

Manufacturing of furtniture falls under Central Excise duty. The value of clearacnes upto Rs 150 Lakhs is exempt as long as he does not use any brand of others.
ST is applicable only on interior decorators. However VAT maybe applicable.
