I have referred S.D.Bala and scored 65 marks in SFM....

A.N. Sridhar blindly faith this book ....

Dear vivek, i'll tell u my experience. 1st attempt i did sfm self study using SD Bala. I scored 41. Merits of the book - good conceptual understanding. Demerits - low quality problems; all concepts not covered

2nd attempt i did using AN Sridhar. I scored 50. Merits - all concepts explained; variety of good quality exam problems. Demerits - none

S.D. Bala is good as concept wise .....

But still I Had took Rajiv Singh for more practice question ...

so If you purchase S.D. BALA  ... You'll find the need to combine it with other book.... if you are little slow with understanding concept of practical subjects.

And A.N.Sridhar is more reliable book considered by  CA students ... Like my frn has referred same book and fully satisfied.

And in case you are  refering J.B.Gupta .... then I would suggest you to buy the DVDs for the same ....because at time you will face yourself juggling with more and more concepts.

Look for Rajiv sir's dvds. Then consider doing from any good class notes such as Makkar, Kalra or even

Papneja etc.

Yes dear it's easily available in the market.( Like Pooja law house in Delhi )  Otherwise if u don't get it you can buy the same from ETEN Institute as well.  My friend bought the same book for me .... So I didn't even asked from where she got it....

And about his DVDs ...I don't know whether his DVDs are available in market or not .......

Dr JB Gupta's book is the best in the business..

But for Forex & derivatives refer Rajiv singh notes...

i refer s.n. sridhar, good concepts with numours practicals along with concepts , was very good ..

without attempting much practicals scored 50, but i would sugess pls refer PM also, boz in my attempt 80% qus was from PM & i was not gone through Pm

@ vivek.. u would forever remain confused if u read the comments here.. No offence to any1... some will suggest an sridhar coz they have studied from it and passed and some will suggest sd bala for the same reason.....

the ans to this riddle is that u can select any book.. be it the instiute module... be it an sidhar be it sd bala or any other book for that matter.. the point is that u have to cover 100% of the topics and study CONCEPTUALLY... dont ever ever ever go for rote learning as all the students do these days... so first understand a concept then go forward for solving questions... and if u still have a problem to understand a concept then google is ur frnd and so are we.. :)

an sridhar and sd bala are equally good. :)

*PEACE*

PERFECT SUGGESTION!!!!!!!

I WILL PREFER A N SRIDHAR  OVER S D BALA AS IT IS 100% EXAM ORIENTED COVERING ENTIRE CONCEPTS AND PREVIOUS YEAR QNS.

AN sridhar and SD bala are equally good. :) *PEACE

go for sd bala...:)

whichever book you select stick to one book till end..

Dear Vivek, I have both the books and studied from Shridhar first and then shifted to S D Bala for concepts. Most of the students join classes where their concepts are already cleared and in exam leave they have to revise the things and master the skills. For those A N Shridhar is best because it gives quality problems. But if you have not joined any classes then as far as FM is concerned you are in the unknown world. If your concepts are not clear, you are walking in the dark, specifically Derivatives, Forex etc. For clearing concepts S D Bala is the best book. It explains concepts so beautifully that even 11th standard student can understand it.I have not come across any book explaining such difficult concepts in so easy language (except some programming language books in IT). You will get a feel of live learning.Again for scoring 40-60 Marks i don't think you will have any problem with this book. If you are not conceptually clear, you cant do anything with quality problems. But If your concepts are clear u can at least pass with the book.Adding Practice Manual can give you score also. * So if you have joined classes - A N Shridhar + Practice Manual + RTPs(In this case also you can add S D Bala.) -------- For Self Study : Go for S D Bala + Practice Manual + RTPs(No option - Own experience with both the books). Further for covering more problems you can add up Shridhar. Thanks Sandeep

Thank you mates , your valuable sugessions means a lot to me! Thanks for being the light in darkness! Thanks a lot :)
