If a person is director in a company say X Ltd. and holds alternate directorship for other director in the same company.
For the purpose of section 165 such holding to be counted as 1 or 2 for determining limit of 20 directorships.

U cannot be an alternate director in the same co. If u are already director in that co....so no question of sec 165 arises..
Section 165 does not prohibit any director of a company to hold alternate directorship for other company.
