Property Tax Deduction for Let-Out/Self-Occupied

430 views 1 replies

Hello -

I need your help on residential property tax.

In June 2024, I paid property tax on two flats - one self-occupied, second rented out
For both properties, I paid property tax in lumpsum in June 2024 (for 3 years - from FY 21-22 to FY 23-24).

Can I take deduction for the lumpsum amount in my tax filing for FY 23-24?
Can I take this deduction for both properties - self-occupied and rented?

Kindly provide guidance so I can complete my taxes correctly in next few days.

Thank you!

For SOP no deduction under new regime, under old regime if there is no home loan, again no.

For let out property, take deductions on pro-rata basis.
