A co. has 4 zones A,B,C,D and 4 sales engineers P,Q,R,S.SINCE zones r not equally rich in sales potential,therefore it is estimated that a particular engineer operating in a particular zone will bring the following sales

A-420000

B-336000

C-294000

D-462000

the engineers r having different sales ability.working under the same conditions their yearly sales r proportional to 14,9,11,8 resp.

MY QUESTION IS HOW TO CALCULATE THE SALES OF EACH ENGINEER ACCORDING TO THE GIVEN PROPORTION?

in book answer is

SALES ENG	PROPORTION	Index taking B as base
P	14	1
Q	9	9/14
R	11	11/14
S	8	8/14

how is above calculation done? on what basis?plz explain

@ anuj: thanks ,even i did the same,but in tulsian its been claculated in a different manner,the one which is mentioned in my query.....................which one to follow?
