PCC - Nov 08 Failed - Why?

1758 views 16 replies

Hello,
I gave my exam in PCC Nov 2008, didnt get throught even in 1 group inspite of me studying a lot and covering almost all chapters which came in the exam.
This problem should be with many people .
What happened with me is i went through the entire chapter but the problems asked in exam from that chapter were like i have never tried before. A different problem altogether.
So i wanted u all to please let me know the books which contain comphrehensive problems and if the problems in that book are worked out that will be enough for the exams.
This is my 2nd attempt and desperate to get a total of 400 atleast and dont want to face the same problem like, I READ EVERYTHING EVEN THEN I FAILED. This is with a lot of students.
Please let me know the 1 book for Costing FM and Taxation which if done completely will be the best for exams.
Even other subjects books are welcome.
         Thanks all

saxena vashisht for Costing Fm...

Hello Sir. I've heard Padhukas's book my Saravana Prasad is the most comprehensive and i've never heard of Saxena Vashist. Do u think it really has all comprehensive problems and problems coming in exam will be from that book?

Costing- B.Saravana Prasath ( Padukas)

Income Tax- G.Sekar ( Padukas)

One more thing ....

You can also save costs of purchasing RTP, compilation etc... And I ll assure problems wont come outside these books.....

All the best

u can fallow padhukas

I think you just concentrate on the basic entries and not on full problem. Institute needs only your basic knowledge that you interpret on paper.

according to me Paduka is best for costing..... its very compressive and probs are given step by step at difficulty level.

thanks

i would suggest ashish kalra sir's buk for both costing nd fm.. his books r excellent for theory as wel as practicals..dere is a very systematic aproach in d way these books have been written..

Well there might be a lot of good books friends ... one will find it tough to compare which is the best ... so its not a problem if we use any of these 3 to 4 good books ... the main thing is about the comprehensiveness . I wanted to know ONE book which has problems which if studied will be enough for exams . i studied from a book in Nov 08 and understood the concept very well but the problem was that when i gave my exam the sums were made so complicated. So i wanted to know which book will be best so that exam problems wil be of the same type in that book ... They type of sum will not be out of that book ... so pls suggest mainly for Tax and costing ... even other subjects are welcome ... Thanks

If you want only problems for costing & FM, the best way is to go 4 the compilation of Pe2 .it is the best available problem cracker for the exams……… besides you may also find how to present your answers both practical &thry, what is expected by the institute etc…. for cost&fm presentation of  ur answers counts greater than what you have known about  the topic……..but the only problem is that you may not get PCC compilation for cost&FM and therefore you cant workout problems on marginal costing, std cost, budgetary control etc which were not included in the syllabus of pe2….. but for other topics, you may not get a better one than this…

I fyou need both thry & prob, Saxena Vashist(S Chand & Co.) or Ravi M Kishore (Taxmann); both are good but taxman a little better in terms of inclusion  of past questions…

ya for costing & fm institute module and compiler is enough... and for taxation ... u can refer AAdhya publication..... Bangur and Bangaur

why compilation is not available for costing of pcc?

Saxena Vashist(S Chand & Co.) is NOT SCHAND publictaion

it is of SULTANCHAND

Schand and Sultan Chand are different publishers not same

compilation is available in institute for pe2........

as there is only 2chapters diff in both....... i.e pe2 and pcc

Institute hasn't publisehd pcc compilation yet. in pe2 , you can get questions from may '81 onwards...

for taxation Vinod Singhania is the best if you  have already studied the subject... but for a first learner singhania won't digest easily; you may  go for T N manoharan...

i think singhania will get u more results than manoharan...

hi adula,

thanks for your sharing.. i didn't know that S Chand & Sultan chand were different.. i am sorry for the wrong information provided.
