Outstanding Demand as per Income tax portal

Hi

We can see that in case of response to outstanding demand, though the payment has been made it still appears on the income tax portal and the same gets adjusted against any refunds subsequently. This has been the norm in many cases. In spite of raising many grievances, filing rectification return or updating the portal with payment details, the demand doesnot go away. Have anyone faced the similar situation?

Thanks

Quick Summary
Users are experiencing an issue where payments made for outstanding demands on the Income Tax portal are not being reflected, leading to the demand remaining visible and refunds being adjusted. While some suggest using the 'Pay Now' option for immediate resolution, others point to technical glitches. If payment has already been made through other means, contacting the Assessing Officer (AO) for rectification is recommended to prevent future refunds from being incorrectly offset.

Pay for the demand from the pay now option appearing under the outstanding demand.

It will become zero within 5 minutes of paying from this option.

If you are already made the payment and all online options are used, you can reach out to AO for necessary rectification to nullify outstanding demand. Else future refunds would unnecessary gets adjusted for said outstanding demand which you have already paid but not squared off in system.

If you haven't made payment yet, then you can follow process as mentioned by Susheel. That would be best option.

Manoj

These are technical glitches.
