Nov 11 - direct tax paper review *_*

Hello All,

The word is Mammoth. No matter how many days they give before direct tax, the last day shall still have chaos! DIRECT TAX, its the biggest huddle between Final CA and CA.

Well... Paper was short, not as long as it usually is. And you cant say it was tough too, but the inherent quality of Tax paper is suspense. Even after attempting 95 marks paper, I can’t confidently commit any lower limit for my marks.

The small small harmless looking adjustments were the highlight of today’s paper.

However, the case studies were pretty easy, which will prove to be the life line for people on border.

How about you all??? Also please share if you were able to finish the course, I couldn't!

Anyways, the bright side is.... Just one more to go. Lets finish this with a bang and with all we've got.

Best of Luck for Indirect Tax to all of you.

Good Night *_* (Direct Tax effect)

Paper was k. They laid stress on concepts. Wealth tax mein toh watt lag gayi.

Aur Pranchal portion covering is impossible. PGBP and Assessment procedure absorbs one day.

Ab toh indirect tax ki hai bari. Toh guys get ready . Then rest rest and rest.

4.Good Night *_* (Direct Tax effect) smiley

Paper was OK OK, mind testing, knowledge testing and case law based. 10 out of 10 to paper setter.

dear sirs

q 2 line 1 ...one time license fee of 20 lacs to foriegn company ... whether tds applicable ????  if yes then i presume no tds deducted ...so dissallowed....

If TDS not applicable ....the capitalize the fees  as intangibles....amortize at 25% rate.... so only 20 * 25% = 5 lacs is allowable as expense this year ....

Which one is correct ???

Frnds, don't ignore the RTP. wealth tax case law, q.7a, CBDT power to condone delay, dividend stripping adjustment, tds airline case law, saurashtra cement case for damages --- all these were from RTP.

Paper was average...conceptual....Case laws are life saver in this paper...

I gyess one of the most straight forward tax paper ever.. Lukd much easier than last time.. !! Thank God!

paper looked easy from outisde but it is not..there is plenty of scope for making silly mistakes...there are minute adjustments in each question where u would have known the answer but u would have missed something...im not going to have any expectations on the marks..just want to give my best for IDT..all the best

thanks to one of the members here who posted about Dispute resolution panel...he was the one who told that it might come for this exam and it came...thank god...
