I will suggest u to know first the scope from management.

See Internal Audit is not that limited in scope like Statutory or Tax. U can go beyond the conventional meaning of audit through Internal audit. Ask management whether they want u to do A 1.review of compliance or 2.operations & transactions or 3.systems & proceedures
