For instance,
If an employee of central govt commits fraud by embezzling money of customers and the mistake has been proved,
can the gratuity be forfeited? Even after the recovery of theft money?
Can they do so?

Gratuity cannot be forfeited but the employer may impose a fine on the employee and may adjust the fine payable with the gratuity.

Gratuity cannot be forfeited ... that money has to be given to the employee. . Then legal action had to be taken for getting back the money lost due to his actions

Grautity can never be forfeited but can be adjusted if employee has done some fraud or illegal activity which has harmed the interest of the compa company
In my opinion gratuity cannot be forfeited , but it can be adjusted with the fine or penalty imposed on such employee.
