I am doing my CA just cleared IPCC. I wanted some invaluable advice regarding my carrier.I have to join articles. I have an option between
1.Joining A mid size firm giving me exposure to all servicelines ( Tax, audit etc)
or
2. I have an opportunity in Earnst and young but only in Risk Management and Advisory Services.
I wanted to know the future prospects of this Risk Management Advisory Services and what opportunities will i have after CA. Also your advice on the same.
I Think Go With 2nd Option.

As per my advice u should join Earnst and Young, whatever the department given to u does not matter.
at least u will become a expert in that field. And dont think that u will be in that department for the whole articleship period, may be that u would be shifted to another department.
Earnst and Young is far more better than any mid size firm.
Given the facts that you may earn more in EnY and will be exposed to a higher level of clients, anyone would say EnY is where you should go.
However, do take into consideration the cons. You will be more of a slave than an employee/article. You will be sacrificing a lot out of your personal life. I do not belive that you can possibly be shifted to any other department in any Big4 so don't expect that. You will work for full 3 years with the same department. I am not discouraging you but facts are facts. If you can handle the cons; 2nd option is what you should choose.
Its simply difficult..
If you just want a brandname and monotonous work, go for EY
If you wanna really learn d job a of CA, go for midsizes...

I would suggest a mid-size firm, but not a small sized firm...
See if the mid-sized firm u are talking about now is popular with other students....
If yes, dont bother about E&Y....
But wherever you go, there wil be no love lost for articles after a couple of months (at the most)...
It is best if u can take the decision purely based on the merit of developing yourself as a professional..

in my opinion you should first decide whether you want to do job after compeleting CA or you want to do Practice then decide
choose 1 and join a good CA firm which will give you exposure in all fields if you want to do Practice
choose 2. if you want to do job
