Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the compliance requirements for exporting services under GST law. Exports are considered zero-rated supplies, allowing businesses to either pay IGST and claim a refund or use a Letter of Undertaking (subject to conditions) to avoid upfront IGST payment. It also confirms that an Import Export Code (IEC) is mandatory for both goods and services exports.

Export  is  zero  rated supply  under  GST  act   , you can export  either  by paying  IGST  and then  claim refund  or  submit  Letter of  Undertaking  ( subject  to  conditions )  without  payment  of   IGST  .

Is there any other formality required post export like we require in export of goods i.e shipping bill filing egm ?? also wheather iec is required??

Yes ,   Import  Export  code ( IEC)   is  the  most  Important  and  mandatory  for  Export  & Import  . Without  Code  you can not   export  . Details  you check  on Directorate  General  of foreign  Trade web  Site .

IEC is must for import-export in India

Even for export of services???

yes ,  for  both export  of  Goods & services  IEC  is  mandatory .
