Quick Summary
When a bank continues deducting TDS on a deceased FD holder's PAN after death, post-death interest should generally be offered to tax by the legal heir or beneficiary. Update AIS feedback, report the income in the legal heir's ITR, and claim eligible TDS credit after proper documentation.

After the death of an FD holder, formally notify the bank to stop interest accrual on the deceased's PAN. Any interest earned post-death should be reported in your personal ITR. You can claim credit for any TDS deducted on that post-death income by using the "Schedule TDS" in your own tax return. Ensure you are registered as a legal heir on the income tax portal to handle these representative filings.

informed but the bank said till its closed or maturity the name cannot be removed  though marked as deceased so since name still present it issues tds on that , some were closed like in Q2 Q3 so can i simply put in AIS that interest belongs to another PAN in the deceased's AIS and then add the interest n tds details in the legal heirs's itrs and file clubbing the interest and claiming the tax refund in the legal heir's itr?
