Can we show one entry in return for the 40 bills raised to one party in one day? Bill numbers are different but in serial.

No. Each tax invoice will have one entry in GSTR-1. That means you have to make 40 entries for that party.

yes bill wise details is necessary in case of sale to reg.person or more than 2.5L amount

If your turn over is Above 1.5cr in PY. Then its yes....
