Dear Experts, while filling the form for a new PAN card(with the same PAN no.),i accidentally filled the form for a new PAN CARD so what are the steps i can surrender it urgently..because i filled it today and i want to surrender it urgently pls reply I even contacted the A.O. for surrender of PAN but he is saying it can only be done through online portal...and the online portal for surrender of pan is also not working.. .is there anyway i can surrender it?

Did you pay the fee? If not do not pay the fee, instead apply a fresh application.

Thanks for your reply sir , but a new PAN card has been inadvertenly alloted to me, as i have not linked it anywhere ,i need to surrender it ASAP

Write a letter to your jurisdictional AO and mention the fact of holding duplicate PAN. In the letter mention both the PAN and also must indicate which one you want to retain and which one you are surrendering. If the AO refuses to receive the letter send the same by speed post. If your jurisdictional ITO office has ASK Centre you may submit the same there also.

Ghosh ji , this is traditional way. Now there are better ways in place without the involvement of communicating to AO.

File pan correction form and mention there second pan number to be surrendered.

Thankyou everyone for your replies ....Praveen sir what are the documents that i should attach along with the PAN Application Form .and will it be surrendered by quoting the PAN Card details inadvertenly alloted to me or is there any further procedure??

apply through nsdl website. select paperless application. no need to send any document. only thing you need is aadhaar card with full DoB and mobile number in aadhaar.
