Correct ITR form

Hi,

Please guide me on the correct ITR form to be filed for FY26 (AY 2026-27). Below are my sources of income:

  1. Income from IT Freelancing (GST paid).
  2. Capital gains from the sale of equity shares.
  3. Capital gains from the sale of house property.
  4. Others - Rental Income, Dividend from equities, Bank savings A/c interest.

Thanks

Quick Summary
For AY 2026-27, a taxpayer earning IT freelancing income along with capital gains from shares and house property, rental income, dividends and bank interest should file ITR-3. ITR-2 is not applicable because it cannot be used where business or professional income exists.

Since you have income from IT freelancing (professional income), along with capital gains from shares and house property, rental income, dividend income and bank interest, the appropriate return form for AY 2026-27 would be ITR-3. ITR-2 is not applicable because it cannot be used by persons having income from business or profession. Capital gains, house property income and other sources income can all be reported in ITR-3.

Thank you sir for the quick reply.

Itr 2 is allowed but there are other conditions.
