"I have been a CS course student. However from my experience when working with a company as a management trainee I have realized that companies most often don't need Company Secretaries. They instead employ the services of a consultant on a retainership basis for a paltry amount. This way they are complying with the law (Companies At, 1956) and saving on the salaries which they would have paid to a full-time CS. I am not surprised by the fact that there are only 25000 Company Secretaries. The fact is the CS is the most neglected among its siblings like Cost Accountant or a Chartered Accountant. The desperation of ICSI is evident when it has recently started giving ads on television quite unlike ICAI or ICWAI. The top management at ICSI always sells golden dreams to the prospective students and I would only suggest the prospective students from my experience to know about the ground reality and think through before committing your precious time and money for a course like ICSI."
.......... ... .. . .
These are not my words..! .. I found them on some other site..
I am Doing CS foundation(december) so I felt bad and demotivated by the above comment!
The following comment made me even anxious:
- "I m a Qualified CS, i want to say that CS has lost its charm nowadays , one even finds it difficult to search ajob, i fully agree with x.x.x(name hidden to protect privacy!)"
I then found this:
"Company Secretary has been included amongst the Key-Managerial-Personnels of the Company and as per new clause 178C the functions of CS have been increased moreover the Secretarial Audit is now mandatory for companies with annual turnover of 5 Crore or more.
So i think the scope of CS is wider than before."
GREAT!
I am from small city where there is no one for counceling( except coachings)!
The only source is internet (and caclubindia!)
.
There are many online forums, guides, experts for CA and MBA,but when I search about CS,
only people giving confident advice are the one who have done CS 20 yrs back or are career councellor.
When I try to find out opinion of current CS,they are found asking similar questions like this:
"Hi I am xx.I have cleared my cs final! Please give me some details of companies for internship."
You can find thousands of similar queries(and they are from big cities like delhi and chandigarh!)
If CS are so "saught after" professional why they are always found "seeking desperately" for training.Aren't the companies supposed(or bound) to find CS and not the other way?
Few more questions expecting honest answers:
Are internship tough to get? What if no one is ready to give me training!
Are no companies interested in employing fresh CS?
Should CS degree must be accompanies by llb degree , for high value of CS?
Is CS just a hype?
Dont get me wrong,I know I can clear CS if I work hard but what if my efforts become futile and wasted?
Thanks.Reply.
