Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies whether you can claim tax deductions under Section 80E for paying the interest on your sister's education loan. According to Section 80E (3)(e), tax benefits for education loan interest are permissible not only for children and spouses but also for individuals for whom you act as a legal guardian. Therefore, if you are considered your sister's guardian, you can indeed show the interest paid on her education loan in your tax filing.
