Once you are elegible to appear, the count starts....

So, Nov-2011 will be your 2nd attempt.
 

Attempt will be counted only if you have applied for the exam and paid the exam fee. 

i have appeared for my group-1 ipcc exam in novemberand got passed in it and in this may  i am going to appear for group-2 exam if i would pass in it whether it would consider as if i have cleared ipcc in first attempt..
