I have received the salary of 2016-17 in the year 2017-18 as arrears.
is it required to file tax return before 31st March for the arrears as it is my salary of 2016-17.

No. You can get relief u/s. 89(1) of IT act, for the salary arrears, while filing return of current year, by filling form 10E
