Remembering everything and anything is quite impossible. Especially in a curriculum like CA, it is just next to impossible. However, all of us in this profession are overruled by “I’m Possible” instead of impossible because CA is not for the quitters.
Majority of us don’t really fit in amongst the top cream of the cake, yet we can make ourselves as tasty as the cream or even much better than that. Memory is one such add-on to our career.
Memory consists three aspects - Recite, Store and Retrieve. It is possible to store only when you recite, and retrieve only when you store. Hence the most important aspect is Reciting. We need to open up ourselves to understand and commit to what we do
Here are some tips and tricks to excel in our career by using and practicing some hacks
1. Writing as you read
Writing forces brain to retain the information and access it when you require. Some of us have to ability to even visualize the lines we write. This enhances our writing skill and also produces fast writing
2. Correlate with images
In subjects like audit, vouching verification topics, I had come across Mr. CA Harshad Jaju classes. He had made Special audits way much easier to revise and recall by using pictures (Ex: images of kitchen counter KOT, Hotel invoice, Silver cutlery for Audit of hotels). This makes the brain to retain information easily as the brain captures images faster and clearer than what we read.
3. Block studying
Dividing your study syllabus into blocks (topic wise, time-based, page-wise) helps you study faster and keeps you energetic. The brain is fooled when you divide a huge syllabus and finish it as targeted, hence helping you utilize the time allocated
4. Break the Para
Sometimes studying a huge provision, a large stanza is a uphill task for us. What I did was breaking the para into sensible lines which makes us retain and revise easier
5. Use colors
Making our study environment colorful or the material colorful, boosts the eyesight and brain to capture keywords. I used colored pens to even underline instead of the pencil, this made me focus only the Keyline and shorting my revision
6. Keep yourself Cool
Your Mental energy level is a major player in retaining information. Keeping the mind cool and calm helps better learning
7. Use Mnemonics
I have been greatly benefitted by mnemonics, single line keywords etc. its always a benefiter to everybody. It helps us access the information quicker
I hope these tips helps all of you, Be positive Stay Positive.
