Vice President to inaugurate Diamond Jubilee Function of National Academy of Audit and Accounts

National Academy of Audit and Accounts (NAAA), the premier training institution of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department under the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year. The Vice President of India, Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari will inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee function and release a Special Cover & Commemorative Volume at Yarrows in Shimla tomorrow i.e., May 18, 2010.

 

The Academy provides professional training to newly inducted Indian Audit & Accounts Service (IA&AS) officers. It also conducts specialized training for in-service officers from IA&AS, Indian Forest Service, Defence Services, Indian Railways, Public Sector Undertakings, etc. The Academy also hosts national level seminars on contemporary governance themes. The seminars are chaired by the C&AG of India and the participants include specialists and senior executives from different fields. The last one on “Corporate Governance-Accounting Reforms” was attended by Chairman 13th Finance Commission, Cabinet Secretary and 11 Secretaries to the Govt. of India besides other participants.

 

Training of IA&AS officer trainees was started at IA&AS Training School at Madras (Chennai) in 1949. It was shifted to Shimla in 1950. It was renamed IA&AS Staff College in 1969 and upgraded as National Academy of Audit & Accounts in 1990. The Academy aims at developing a cadre of officers with professional competence in government and commercial auditing & accounting, administrative and behavioral skills with leadership qualities, awareness and appreciation of contemporary professional environment and imbibes a sense of pride in the IA&AS.
