MCA Extends Company Law Committee's Tenure Until September 2024

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the tenure of the Company Law Committee (CLC) by another one year till September 16, 2024. The CLC was set up in September 2019 to examine and recommend on various provisions and issues pertaining to the implementation of the Companies Act, 2013 and the LLP Act, 2008.

The CLC is an 11-member committee chaired by Rajesh Verma, the Corporate Affairs Secretary. The other members of the committee include representatives from the Department of Legal Affairs, Department of Economic Affairs, Securities and Exchange Board of India, National Company Law Tribunal, and industry associations.

The CLC has been working on a number of important issues, including the simplification of the Companies Act, 2013, the introduction of a single window clearance system for businesses, and the promotion of corporate social responsibility. The extension of the CLC's tenure will allow it to continue its work on these important issues.
