ICSI president elected as Secretary of CSIA

CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, President The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has been elected as the Secretary of the Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA) during the Council Meeting of CSIA held on March 15-16, 2017 at Johannesburg, South Africa. CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal is the youngest and the first Company Secretary from Rajasthan to hold this position.

CSIA is an international Federation of professional bodies that promotes best practice in corporate secretarial, corporate governance and compliance services. The ICSI and CSIA are committed to improving the recognition and understanding of the practice of corporate secretaryship, the role of a Corporate Secretary, and work to improve governance standards globally.

Speaking at the Council meeting of CSIA, CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal asserted that he will go the extra mile to propagate Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mantra ‘Less Government, More Governance’ by taking governance to grass root level thereby empowering the common man globally by using CSIA platform and at the same time, he will also strive to augment the periphery of governance professionals universally. He will support Hon’ble Prime Minister in his motto of ‘Reform, Perform and Transform’ to ensure real development and transformation of India as well as of member countries through the engine of Governance and at the same time to facilitate India to create its niche in Governance globally.

CSIA represents around 1,00,000 corporate secretaries and governance professionals through its 14 Member nations and with presence in 70 countries. In process to further expand the ranks ICSI and CSIA are collectively working towards delivering a wide range of governance related roles, which include corporate secretarial issues, governance structure, process and advice on legal and commercial issues, compliance, risk management and professional administration.

CSIA currently has 14 Member nations including USA, UK, Southern Africa, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. The Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA) has it’s registered office in Hong Kong.
