The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) marked International Yoga Day 2026 with large-scale celebrations across India and overseas chapters under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing." The initiative saw participation from members, students, and employees worldwide, emphasizing the importance of physical and mental wellness in the accounting profession. ICAI President CA. Prasanna Kumar D encouraged Chartered Accountants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, while Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal joined the Mumbai celebrations and highlighted the role of Chartered Accountants in building a Viksit Bharat.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrated the spirit of wellness on the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 through yoga sessions organized across the country, witnessing enthusiastic and overwhelming participation across its 5 Regional Councils, 186 Branches and Overseas Chapters. Aligning with this year's inspiring global theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", ICAI’s celebrations echoed the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, highlighting India’s holistic framework for longevity, mental agility and lifelong well-being. The IDY 2026 celebrations pan India, was organised under the aegis of Beneficiary Schemes Directorate and Public Relations Committee of ICAI.
As a premier professional body, ICAI recognizes that sustainable economic and professional success is built upon a foundation of physical and mental wellness. This year's theme underscores a critical global shift: treating health not merely as the absence of disease, but as a proactive journey toward longevity.
On this occasion, CA. Prasanna Kumar D, President, ICAI , along with the Members of the Central Council and the Northern India Regional Council, and CA. (Dr.) Jai Kumar Batra, Secretary, ICAI, participated in the yoga session, setting a powerful example of leadership through wellness. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from ICAI members and employees, reflecting their commitment to holistic well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
Encouraging the CA fraternity to integrate the practice into their demanding daily routines, CA. Simultaneously, in Mumbai, the yoga day celebrations were graced by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry , along with Central & Regional council Members. Echoing with the sentiments at the Mumbai Yoga Day Celebrations, Shri Piyush Goyal, said, “As our Hon’ble Prime Minister has emphasized, development and heritage must go hand in hand. The vision of a Viksit Bharat can be realized only when we remain deeply rooted in our culture, heritage and values, while carrying them forward with pride for future generations. Yoga is one such invaluable legacy of India that we must embrace and incorporate into our daily lives.
He further added, “Chartered Accountants are the soldiers of the Viksit Bharat. At a time when the world faces conflicts and economic uncertainties, India continues to stand out as one of the fastest-growing major economies. This remarkable progress is supported by the unwavering commitment, integrity and professional excellence of Chartered Accountants, who play a vital role in strengthening the nation's economic and financial framework.”
