The ICAI President applauds the professionals for reaching new heights of excellence and for their role in creating a trustworthy investment climate in India, recognising them as a vital pillar of the nation's development and economic growth.
The Chartered Accountants, the Cost and Works Accountants and the Company Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 2022, was passed by both Houses of Parliament and received Presidential assent. Key provisions include changes to the composition of disciplinary committees, the formation of a Coordination Committee, and powers to take action against firms.
The ICAI is introducing a new Scheme for Education and Training aligned with international best practices and the National Education Policy 2020. They are also actively engaging with regulators like SEBI and NFRA, promoting networking among CA firms, and launching a mentorship programme for civil services aspirants.
The ICAI, in collaboration with the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), organised a State Level Conference on Investor Education and Awareness in Guwahati, with the Hon'ble Governor of Assam inaugurating the event.
Recognising the inclusion of Digital Assets under taxation in Budget 2022, the ICAI's Digital Accounting and Assurance Board is working on a research paper covering the accounts, audit, taxation, and technological aspects of cryptocurrencies.
The ICAI is promoting the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) 2022, which it is hosting. They have also held meetings with CPA Australia and the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) to strengthen global relationships and expand the CA brand internationally.
