Delhi Customs officials have made a significant seizure at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, recovering smuggled gold valued at over Rs 7.5 lakh and fake Indian currency notes (FICN) amounting to Rs 10 lakh. The items were found concealed in the luggage of an Indian passenger arriving from Ras AI Khanimah, UAE. The passenger and an individual waiting to receive him have been arrested, and further investigations are underway with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also involved.

The fake Indian currency notes had a face value of Rs 10,00,000 (Ten Lakh Rupees), consisting of 2,000 notes of Rs 500 denomination.
The passenger arrived at IGI Airport, New Delhi, from Ras AI Khanimah International Airport in the UAE.
Two Indian nationals have been arrested in connection with the seizure: the passenger and the person who was supposed to receive him at the airport.
The gold and fake currency notes were seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, and both individuals were arrested under Section 104 of the same Act. The NIA has also been informed and has joined the investigation.
