Customs officials seized smuggled gold weighing 175 grams, valued at over Rs 7.5 lakh, and fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with a face value of Rs 10 lakh.

A total of 175 grams of gold, presented as 24 silver-plated cylindrical pieces, was recovered.

The fake Indian currency notes had a face value of Rs 10,00,000 (Ten Lakh Rupees), consisting of 2,000 notes of Rs 500 denomination.

The passenger arrived at IGI Airport, New Delhi, from Ras AI Khanimah International Airport in the UAE.

Two Indian nationals have been arrested in connection with the seizure: the passenger and the person who was supposed to receive him at the airport.

The gold and fake currency notes were seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, and both individuals were arrested under Section 104 of the same Act. The NIA has also been informed and has joined the investigation.
