CBIC issues clarification on the wrong due date being shown on the portal during return filing

Over the past couple of days, various taxpayers reported that the due date for filing GSTR-1 for Oct-Dec 2020 period is being shown as 31.01.2021 on the GST Portal, while the actual due date is 13.01.2021. In this regard CBIC, via their official Twitter handle has issued a clarification. Read the official Tweet below:

The due date for quarterly filing of GSTR-1 for Oct-Dec 2020 quarter period is 13.01.2021. The date currently being shown in the GSTR-1 tile is 31.01.2021 which is erroneous and the correct date i.e. 13.01.2021 will be displayed on the portal soon.
