V lookup Problem

Hi there

I am now involved in consolidation of Trial Balances of various branches to arrive at final trial balance..

I have the TB in Excel sheet.. I am using Vlookup function to consolidate.

I have named all the TB properly using (define name) in the excel sheet.Now when i add all using vlookup function the results are of errors.. for example if i input vlookup(Profit & Loss,Chennai,2,True) then excel gives value of Deposits (NOT PROFIT & LOSS A/c ) in chennai TB.

How do i rectify this...?

You give this formula: vlookup("Profit & Loss",Chennai,2,True) or

if the name in first column is matching in all respect use, vlookup("Profit & Loss A/c",Chennai,2,False)

Hi Santosh, I think u r having some problem in putting the formula, so try not to put the formula manually rather try from the list of given functions, select the lookup value column and look range and select the number of the column properly. I think it will work. One can copy the sheets in one file and then try it will be easy.
